Your massage therapist understands the inconvenience of allergies, whether they be environmental, food, or chemically related. In fact, as I write these words I am having a mild reaction to something I ate or touched in the last 24 hours. Let me tell you, it is not fun to be itchy and irritable. For this reason, my massage room is a scent free zone.
The massage lotion I use is unscented as well as the laundry detergent used to wash the sheets. I don’t wear any perfume or body spray either. The only scented item on me is my deodorant and that is pretty mild. In the restroom you will find a bar of my handmade soap which is also scent-free.
Please do not wear cologne, body spray, perfume, or scented lotion to your massage appointment. This is for the comfort of other clients and myself.
I’ll go one step further and ask that you do not lather yourself in lotion prior to your appointment. The lotions I use do not contain any soybean oil, nut oils, or sesame seed oil and are cruelty free. The two lotions that are used are the following:
1-Sacred Earth Botanicals– A Vegan Massage Lotion that is Hypo-Allergeni, Paraben Free, Gluten Free, Fragrance Free, Nut Oil Free, Cruelty Free, and Water Dispersible.
I use the Sacred Earth lotion on almost everyone. If a client has particularly dry skin, I’ll use Soothing Touch lotion instead as it has more glide to it.
100% pure Jojoba oil is a pure and natural plant extract that will penetrate and moisturize your skin without leaving any oily residue.
PROSSAGE Heat blends these natural ingredients: Safflower Seed Oil, Menthol, Lanolin, and Lavender Oil. This does smell like menthol and I always ask for permission before using it.
CryoDerm’s proprietary blend of MSM, Arnica, Boswella, ILEX, Menthol, Eucalyptus and Peppermint Oil targets the Pain Spasm Cycle, addressing the secondary effects of a subluxation, pain, ischemia, hypertonicity and inflammation. -Relieves muscle spasm, reduce inflammation and decrease spindle cell response. This also smells like menthol & I always ask for permission before use.
Therabath Paraffin Wax (Seasonal)
This is of course unscented as well. I use it regularly as a heat treatment for my hands and it doesn’t hurt that it leaves my hands feeling smooth and moisturized. It feels amazing on cold winter mornings when my hands feel achy.
